Like many, I’ve reflected upon the Queen's passing. Obvious aspects such as the history of the British Empire/Commonwealth etc. Yet, many other aspects too.
I’ve reflected upon how an individual can affect so many from afar.
The Queen’s reign shows the impact of constancy on human relationships - even at a distance.
Many do not know a life without her presence.
Constancy can have a significant impact on a relationship, especially our close relationships. Think of the close relationships in your life, of the people you feel you can turn to…
We all need people we can rely and depend upon. This helps us to feel a level of comfort and safety.
When we feel vulnerable and/or at times of stress, just knowing someone is there, no matter the scenario, helps us through.
This platform of care and safety can enable the person/s to explore and step outside of their comfort zone. Unconsciously, the person feels if they explore and it goes wrong, they will be ok, they will be cared for. Building their resilience.
Often these relationships can be taken for granted due to their ever-present nature, especially in team scenarios. The people who are the glue which keep the team ticking. Those who provide this platform can often feel unseen, as they are ‘just’ always there.
Reflect on your relationships and who provides constancy for you. Let them know you see them and appreciate them.
Nurture these relationships and enable them to flourish.
